Possibly getting rid of the CX-50

Does it have the 2.4L engine? I’m looking hard at an Outlander Sport but the 2.0 feels a little doggy to me. What’s the name of the dealer?
You won't get top performance for about 4k miles... that's what mine took to really break in.

Yeah, I'd get rid of your CX-50 as soon as possible while it's still worth decent money. Ya know, it's at the right age and decently low mileage. You should do well with some negotiation especially if you trade-in on another MAZDA. I mean, Mazda's reputation is very good as is their reliability & customer satisfaction. I wouldn't hesitate on getting another one if they were my cup of tea.
I have been thinking about trading it in for a newer CX-50 and may depending on the deal I can put together with them. But I don't think I'm gonna limit myself to Mazda.

What else have you considered?
How about a CX-5?
To me, the CX-5 is a nicer CX-50 with an independent rear suspension and maybe a slightly roomier interior without being a much larger of a vehicle, if at all.
I believe that this is the last model year for the current CX-5(before the next generation comes out in '26...whatever it's called) and there may be some deal to be had on them.
OR! Have you considered the CX-50 HYBRID? It's essentially the TOYOTA HYBRID system in a MAZDA.

TOYOTA, the most reliable car company on EARTH, their Hybrid systems have shown/proven to be even more reliable still.
What I mean by "most reliable car company", is that they show to be the most reliable on all continents/markets that they're sold in worldwide.

The reason we went with Mazda was their reputation for reliability, and it’s amazing how many owners sing their praises. We didn’t limit ourselves to Mazda, but in the end it came down to Mazda and Toyota. The Toyota RAV4 just didn’t do it for us, so we chose the Mazda. In researching, it seems every manufacturer has problems of some kind, it gets frustrating while researching reliability. That’s why we ended up choosing between Mazda and Toyota, they seemed to have the least amount of problems. 🤔
My daughter loved her Mazda 3, unfortunately, an elderly lady sideswiped her, which basically totaled the car. Then the next week, coming home from the airport, she was passing a car on I40 and a coyote cleared the car she was passing, but not my daughters car. That poor car had an unceremonious end to its service to her. Oh well, she was looking to up grade anyway.
She test drove a 2025 CX50 and a 2025 RAV4, she chose the Mazda. She may be a little biased though. 😉

I haven’t really considered much yet, since dumping it really only became a thought yesterday. But I know I don’t really like the CX-5 when I have had them as loaners. The seating position and center console leaves a lot to be desired for me and I much prefer the -50 to the -5.

It’s funny you mention the center console in the CX5. When we test drove one, my wife said, “that center console sits too far back!” She couldn’t rest her arm on it in a comfortable way.

That was one of my thoughts too. I just couldn’t get as comfortable in it as I wanted to. Like it fine and I could deal, but not something I would want to pay money to live with.

Yeah like I said earlier, Mazda's are great vehicles but not my cup of tea. Each time I've test driven a CX-5, there were too many things(some I can't put my finger on) that I didn't like for my criteria when looking for vehicles.

Looks like its just the 2.0L. Link
As I had previously posted earlier. It cost me $2,000.00 to get out if a 2022 Highlander about a month ago. Get a bid from Carmax-see where they are it-to give you an idea. Sounds like a vehicle that's been so troublesome you probably don't want to sell it your self.

i tested a Meridian CX-50 at the dealership last year, and after 5 minutes i had enough. they are a far cry from a CX-5, especially higher trims like signature. and that rear suspension setup is an infamy for a vehicle of that price.

That one is jinxed, dump it while you can still get decent money for it from Carmax or Carvana.
I have seen several channels where they are constantly having issues lately as new.... I thought about one but bailed... plus I no longer like the stiff riders...

I'd move on--if you can't get comfortable in it, use that as the straw that breaks the camel's back.

It's possible that it'll be a great car going forward (what hasn't been fixed by now???) but it just sounds like a mess.

Haven't tested out the new CX90 myself but have heard that a lot of folks aren't happy with them. We have an '18 CX-9 and just really enjoy that vehicle. With you saying that about the CX50, makes me wonder if Mazda is straying too far from what made people love them.

Although Mazda's aren't the vehicles for me, I do love the style of their vehicles and they're great to look at. But with me, it goes beyond just looks. I give Mazda a lot of credit for sticking to what the folks who love them, love most about them; "Driving Dynamics" and a more premium vehicle that competes with the mainstream vehicles in their respective segments.
Mazda really dials in those dynamics into all of their vehicles the best they can for the money and the budget in which the engineers have to work with.

Mazda is not a large car company and only recently started breaking into/going over the 300,000 total sales for their first time ever here in the U.S. For example, Toyota sells more Camry's here in the U.S. every year than Mazda sells all of their vehicles each year in the U.S. Mazda pours into their vehicles, things that don't mean as much to me when buying vehicles. I mean, it does mean something to me, just not as much as it does for others. And I think that(just about) every car company is making a nice vehicle.

Mazda does in fact build beautiful vehicles to look at especially in certain exterior colors(Soul Red, Deep Blue, Pearl White). But too many of their cars come with that all depressing, black, on black, on black interiors. Sure, you can get other interior colors but they're difficult to find with the(more interesting to me) paint colors that I desire. And I know, all car companies are now building most of their vehicle with all black interiors.

I do recommend Mazda vehicles if this is what you like. Their styles are great, their build quality and reliability is up there with the best and their customer satisfaction has been through the roof. What's not to love?

Just thought I would follow up with what the dealer found for my latest issue. After bringing it to the dealer and having them do the diagnosis, they found the oil pressure control valve failed. So I'm assuming it was getting stuck open and the oil pressure would drop and upon restart, the valve would reset itself. Either way, I'm gonna start my search for a replacement vehicle, I don't think I will be in too much a hurry, but I'm definitely gonna start searching.

Yup....too stiff for me...
