I was thinking I wanted to be able to moniter the line pressure my atf. Has anybody installed some type of a gauge for this?

I see no reason you couldn't just use a standard oil pressure gauge. I'm going to install a water temp gauge soon for my tranny.

ATF pressures get pretty high. Make sure you get a gauge that can handle 200-300 psi. Not a 'standard' oil pressure gauge that goes up to 80-100 psi.

You don't want to wearing that hot atf in your lap.

When you say "line pressure" do you mean the pressure in the cooling lines that go from the tranny to the radiator? These are fairly low pressure lines; I've seen them replaced or patched on several cars and pickups with rubber fuel line hose. I'd think a regular oil pressure gauge sending unit teed into one of these lines would work.

it depends on your vehicle.. a GM TH700r4/4L60/4L60E has a 1/8 NPT plug in the side of it for hooking up a pressure guage. I'm sure most transmissions have a similar port to them. you'll definately want a high pressure guage and be running braided steel AN lines.

I've watched them do flushes on my cars and the pressure gauge on the machine is usually around 25-35psi. That's in the cooling lines, the pressure inside the trans would be alot higher.
