Porsche Panamera buying advice

Short of lemon examples, is there many vehicles much cheaper to run than a Camry? purchase price aside. But that too was my thought: money pit compared to what? I'm sure there is a car out there that makes a Camry look like a money pit.

I didn't misunderstand you.
I was having a rare moment of agreement with you.

this entire forum is obviously having a problem. it is flooded with people that think that they are the most knowledgeable in any subject possible. these people are turning any thread in a [censored] show and a [censored] sarcasm contest. I feel like I should stay away from this place as it lately becomes a waste of time. chao [censored]

Poop happens.

I have a couple Mercedes and basically ignore those that say they're expensive to fix. It's been the contrary for me as some minor items I can DIY and others I take to an indy which is much cheaper than the dealer. Even a Camry can be pretty expensive at a dealer. I don't mind that thinking though, kills the resale value which makes them cheap to buy.

Only issue with Porsche is that they're even more rare than Mercedes so parts are a little trickier, usually the older the model, the more likely you are to find used parts or aftermarket parts, but when the production was limited, sometimes you're stuck with OEM who can dictate whatever price they want. But that's going to true for any low production car, not just German cars.

That's been my experience with BMWs as well. I love the know-nothings who parrot third or fourth hand hearsay; they save me money.

I guess it makes them feel better about being stuck driving some FWD sled that barely puts out 100 hp. But hey, it's "rock solid" other than the dozen repairs they refuse to admit to, that was just maintenance.

Maybe some econobox drivers can't afford a real car and are jealous...?

Exactly; they think that everyone should have to be as miserable as they are.

I don't think it just involves impoverished econobox owners; anyway, there are several econoboxes that are fun to drive, the Mazda 3 and Civic being just two. I do think that there is a huge jealousy component at work, but it's not necessarily a financial issue; there are several other internal/external factors that might keep them locked in a soul-slaughtering appliance.

I'd like to see someone who drives a Porsche say that the Mazda 3 or Civic is as fun to drive as their Porsche.

I did think my Mazdaspeed 3 was more fun to drive than any BMW save the M Performance and M models.

I won't, cause they're not. My '05 MINI was a hoot though.

Everyone should own at least one really interesting car to daily drive at one time or another.
We've had four Benzes and a couple of BMWs.
We've also had a 280Z 2+2 and an early Vanagon.
Then there was my old MGB.
All of these cars were daily drivers and none were as costly or as troublesome to own and use as some hype artists like to proclaim.
Something a bit off the beaten track is always entertaining and enjoyable to own and use.
Euro car parts are no more costly than Japanese brand parts and are often cheaper.
As with anything else, you just have to know how to shop, easy these days using the medium upon which we're conversing.
A Porsche Panamera might be a bridge too far but it might not be.
A small incremental maintenance and repair requirement might well be worth it.
I'm sure that nobody would confuse the driving experience with any Toyota product including those with that stylized L badge.

lol those econobox drivers usually can't even afford the econobox that they are driving.

My advice is buy it if you want it. Tons of people bad mouth all performance/ luxury cars then throw away money on a new economy car or lease over and over. No payments and lower insurance will pay for a ton of repairs. Also I don’t mind doing work on something I enjoy. An “appliance “ car I hate working on and feels like a waste of $$ ever dollar you spend. I have a BMW and never feel like it’s a waste, it’s fun and reliable enough. Prefer it to most rentals that are brand new. New boring cars are the worst investment I think.

Really funny and sad at the same time to see these people posting here trying to defend their poor financial decisions by [censored] on "econobox" drivers. Even more than that - calling them MISERABLE!!! you guys must be having some mental issue or being in a middle age crisis. grow up and think twice before making bold statements and posting junk like you did.

P.S. there are some people out there that own things and leave debt free.

Well, you have to admit that you do sound more than a little a bit sad...

That would be me- assuming you meant "live" instead of "leave."
