You might want to say your prayers for the Holy Father

I think they totally botched his medical treatments in the last couple of months.

Well, with all due respect, the guy is a very old man. He's been in poor health for years.
Maybe it's just his time?

Crypto has chosen not to post on the board anymore, he enjoys reading the board more than posting.

I am not a very religous person, but Pope John Paul II is truely a gift to humanity. He was so outgoing to Jewish folks and just came across as one of the most decent human beings ever to grace the Earth. He was instrumental in squashing communism. Heaven I think will be a better place with him there.

His acheivements must make him one of the great men of history, demonstrated also by the efforts that he's made to fill his role while struggling so badly health wise.

(as an aside, my mother and sister once recieved communion from him).

Indeed. With Reagan pushing from one direction and the Pope pushing from another, it was a great achievement for our planet to free all those people.

It's looks like his time on earth is over, and he will be remembered as one of the most significant leaders.

Although I am not Catholic, I have had a great deal of admiration and respect for him over the years.

I have a theory about the course of his medical treatment over the last few days.

It seems to me, from the video clips shown, that he was suffering, and frustrated over his inability to speak. I believe that he realized that he was no longer able to carry out the duties of his Papacy, had only a few more months to live even with extremely aggressive treatment, and during those months, would not improve significantly, or be better able to carry out his duties as Pope.

There has been much speculation over the last year as to whether he would resign for health reasons, the first Pope to ever do so, at least in modern times. I believe that he would never choose to resign, as that would set a precedent for future aging Popes. I don't think that JP2 would ever want to set such a precedent.

So, I believe that JP2 has made a deliberate decision to not seek super-aggressive further treatment, and to have it end this way, now. I realize that I am totally speculating, and if I have offended anyone, I apologize in advance.

I'll say! Speculation is one way to put it.

THE POPE HAS DIED
I found out 45 mins ago. I heard the coverage on CBC radio while CNN.com was still saying he had a fever.
More details or a link or something may follow.

I don't know about that.
I heard Michael Savage say the same thing, and we know he always tells the truth!

What's the deal loudist, have some respect here....it's not about politics or your personal insults, a great religious leader has died that many millions had loved.

Hmmm, so you may comment on one persons speculation, yet are offended when someone comments on yours?
Interesting inconsistency.
BTW, please stop with the psychotic PM's to me. Thanks.

I thought religion wasn't supposed to be discussed here? can't even wish the dead well without *** someone off>>>

It's a shame that those that want to express sorrow about the death of the Pope, have to read your accusatory and childish "nah nah" posts. If you wish to insult me more, I'm sure others would appreciate that you send me a PM (where it will be promptly deleted before reading).
Now I insist that YOU stop ruining this thread.
May God Bless the Pope.
