Hey everyone so my 14 dart has auto climate control. Now that it is good and hot outside the a/c is poor. I noticed even on max with recirc on it blows at 50-55 degrees while cruising . I also noticed when I drive the fan speed slows down and when it does this the air temp gets warmer it'll do that for a minute or so then it'll come back to normal and be colder. The fan speed is the difference between max and normal a/c but the temp noticeably increases. I check the pressures yesterday evening it was 80 degrees out sun almost set and the pressures were 48/225 I believe it's a variable displacement system but not positive. What would you do or look at?

I would have it profesionally evacuated and refilled with a calibrated ac machine before any other tests.
48 on the low side is too much for only 80f. And 225 is pretty high. Sounds overcharged to me.

Curious, what the AC like in the 13 dart you have listed in your signature?

I also thought it seemed high but since it's a variable displacement system I thought maybe it wasn't out of line. I thought maybe at hot temps the pressures are to high and it's kicking compressor off and on ?

I bought this one used. It wouldn't surprise me if its overcharged that seems to happen when a collision occurred or something else like a factory mistake.
I'm not sure what to think about it exactly. Going to start with that but besides that i don't know what to do.

The only thing to do is start from scratch. Evacuate the system, make sure it holds vacuum, and weigh the refrigerant charge.
Doesn't it have a warranty?
My Cherokee probably has the same system the Dart has, 92 today and it'll freeze you out.

Some automatic AC systems have codes they throw when there's something wrong, maybe this one does too? Dealer should be able to pull them. Worth the diagnostic possibly.
Yea i wish there was a way to pull the codes without a dealer

I checked the freon level tonight 82 degrees high humidity numbers were 60-250

So I evacuated mine and recharged and it is now at 51/200 it was cooling at idle to 41 degrees on high at center vent and it never did the thing where the air flow would get slower then faster ect. So tomorrow will be the true lipmist test. Hopefully that's all it was. Wouldn't it be great if my issue was a 10 dollar can of refrigerant

I wasn't comparing my car to yours, only confirming that by removing unnecceary weight and parasitic drag your car will be quicker and you will spend less on fuel. These are both good things.
