I know that PEA is highly effective in injector cleaning and carbon mitigation in gasoline engines. I looked at a some formulations of diesel fuel additives and didn't come across the use of PEA in any of them. Is there an equivalent in the diesel world or is it used in a slightly different chemical composition and called something other than PEA? I do know that all the big names in diesel fuel additives, PS, Stanadyne, Howes etc claim to clean injectors. Do we know which primary chemical they use and how it compares to the effectiveness of PEA in gasoline injectors?

Chevron used to have PEA fuel cleaners for diesel injectors and published a study on it back in 1984. These days they seem to use 2-Ethylhexyl nitrate and 2-Ethylhexanol in their Techron diesel injector cleaner, and Stanadyne uses the same stuff.

I can't find any information on the cleaning ability of these additives, but given the amount of additive research Chevron publishes, I'd trust they did it for good reason, and I'd use it instead of PEA.

Agree with this. Doesn't seem PEA is used in Diesel. Power Service Diesel Kleen has almost identical chemistry.

2EHN is a cetane booster, it likely has some cleaning prperties aswell but diesel guys like 2EHN like gas guys like PEA.
