SOPUS over Valvoline
I have read several articles, whereas Valvoline fans believe that their convetional oil is superior! Have they ever looked at the heads up results from the PQiA Laboratory,{Petroleum Quality Institute of America}? Yes, Valvoline meets the standards, but compared to SOPUS, Chevron, Havoline, Kendall the Ashland product packages on conventional oils are pretty weak! So where do they get their superiority claim from? I guess it comes from the wives tales Fairy, they same one that says that SPOUS products will sludge an engine?
Check out the results yourself and compare at:http://www.pqiamerica.com/methodology.html
If Valvoline, Castro and Mobil oils are the ‘cats pajamas’ then why didn’t they answer Quaker State’s challenge in 2009, and settle this issue once and for all who makes the best oil? Quaker wanted to have all challengers to agree to use ‘an independent laboratory’, so an unbiased test could be performed! Castro and Mobil did not respond at all, but Valvoline said that they would consider it if they could do all the testing using THEIR labs and THEIR employees, {sort of sounds like Amsoil}. Valvoline’s response to Quaker was, “We make good oil too”. When Quaker insisted on ‘independent testing’ Valvoline no longer responded! Please don’t take my word read it for yourself at:

Quaker State Goes Unchallenged and Unsurpassed in Wear Protection
Posted on: Tuesday, 31 March 2009, 15:06 CDT
HOUSTON, March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Quaker State remains unchallenged and unsurpassed in wear protection, as Mobil 1, Valvoline and Castrol chose not to accept the terms of the motor oil challenge issued by Quaker State. As of 5 PM ET on March 27, Mobil 1 and Castrol had remained silent and did not respond to the motor oil challenge issued by Quaker State. Valvoline offered up its own testing, but declined to go head-to-head as outlined in Quaker State's challenge on March 20.
"We are disappointed that our competitors opted not to participate in the challenge designed to provide consumers with clarity regarding wear claims as measured by industry testing. However, the competitors' positions do not change what the team at Quaker State has always known -- no leading full synthetic motor oil provides better wear protection in the ASTM Sequence IVA test than Quaker State's full synthetic," said Steve Harman, President, Americas.
"To mark the end of the 'Wear War,' we are re-introducing our product as Quaker State Ultimate Durability full synthetic motor oil -- NEW name; same unsurpassed wear protection.
