The local gun board has a running thread about dudes polishing their stainless heaters. All sorts of guns looking very slick super polished.

Do you guys think it would be crazy to polish my Colt Rail Gun frame?

It's not a collector piece, I shoot it regularly. Seems like it would look mean and unique polished. The techniques (mostly by hand) don't look too nasty. I further polished my SS Blackhawk and it looks nice.

Crazy?

Bling!

I never polish any gun part.

But then none of my guns are on display either.

I polished my titanium Taurus Ultra-Lite .38 to a pretty high shine. Left the cylinder and barrel matte gray, and I've gotta say it looks pretty sharp. Dremel tool w/ jewelers rouge did the trick, but took awhile. I didn't bring it all the way up to mirror finish, because IMO that just invites noticeable scratches and this stuff is HARD to buff.

I don't think it would be crazy, I doubt I'd do it, because it sounds like it would be a hassle to keep it looking polished.

It would probably look good, though. Just don't let the reflections off it blind you!

You can do it. One thing I always hated about polished stainless guns, or gloss nickeled is the glare. Plus they show scratches easily. I much prefer a more subtle brushed finish.
