Polish for Chromed/plastic

My M-B chromed plastic trim is in need of a polishing as it has a not so nice haze on it that the car washes do not help with. I have Mothers California gold chrome polish, but is this the correct product?

do you have any pics of what the trim looks like ?
I do like to start with a paint cleaner as it is non abrasive and will remove oxidation. something like klasse AIO will work most often.

Klasse AIO is a very good suggestion. DO NOT uses polishes intended for metal chrome. Polishes/cleaners intended for plastic or a non abrasive cleaner wax (like Klasse) work best. The beauty of Klasse is that you are not limited to just using it on the chromed/plastic, the paint will benefit also.

Thanks - didn't take any photos, but the winter has been long and that salt spray is making the chrome dull and cloudy.I will try the Klasse AIO.

PlastiChrome should never be polished with metal or chrome polishes. They are far too delicate.

Depending on what kind of plastichrome it is it could actually be clearcoated. In which case you should start with a finishing polish like Meguiars Ultimate Polish.

If that doesn't polish it up try moving up to a compound. But I would definitely avoid dedicated metal polishes. They're much too harsh.

I would use headlight polish if it won't buff up with a microfiber towel.

Always go gentle and work your way up. As mentioned a good cleaner wax that is safe for clearcoated finishes is the way to go. If you get the haze cleared up, use a good paint sealer or wax on it. I have a few chromed plastic items on a bike and I use Collinite insulator wax on it. Keeps its nice.

Duragloss #501 Marine sealant will work very well. It has strong cleaners in it. Around $10 on Amazon. It does a nice job on paint as well. Here's a professional on here using it:
