Mothers and 3M Plastic Polish ?

Did anyone try Mothers 06208 Plastic Polish or 3M Plastic Cleaner 39017 and 3M Plastic Polish 39010 to clean yellow/haze plastic headlights ? Which product is better ?

I have used Mothers Plastic Polish. It is a very nice finishing polish. It does not seem to have a lot of correction but for a last step it is great for getting optically clear. I have used Mothers Mag and Akum Polish and various other paint polishes to do initial correction but Mothers to finish it up/

If you are wet sanding to 2000 grit to clean, when you are finishd sanding, polish with rotary or DA and medium polish, medium pad. Final polish with finish pad and mild polish.

An example would be an Edge green (or orange) pad with Menzerna IP or PoorBoys SSR 2.5 followed by an Edge white pad with Menzerna Nano or Final polish or PoorBoy's SSR 1. There are a ton of products that work from 3M, Meguiars, Four Star, Duragloss and others as well as pads from Lake Country and others mentioned in this post.

Once polished, protect with Plexus or a similar product for UV protection. It sounds complicated but starting from scratch it is less than an hour project for most people. Remember to wetsand in opposite directions (EX: 800 grit left-right then 1000 grit up-down) for each grade of paper as you sand.

One big helper that I figured out was to use a pink pearl or similar eraser as a sanding block and cut the paper to wrap around it. It makes it easy to hold and stops any mistakes on your part.

The problem is my driver side headlight was yellow/haze but the passenger side is clear as new. I did wet sand 600 grit then applied turtle wax polish, the final step was Kit's scratch remover. The driver side headlight is very smooth and cleaner than before, but not as clear as the passenger side.

You will need to go a little smoother than 600 grit. Try following the 600 with 800, 1000 and 1500 at the very least. 2000 would be better to finish with but most medium polishes will get out 1500 grit sanding marks from plastic.

Do you have a DA polisher or a rotary? If not, do you have a friend that owns one? If those options are out, you can get a pad that will fit a drill in several kits that should work OK. When finished, you would have to look very close to see any difference in them.

It looks like you know what you're talking about.
I don't have any finer wet sand above 600 grit and I don't have either DA polisher or a rotary and I don't have access to them either. The closest option is getting "3M Headlight Lens Restoration System" available at amazon.com.

I had to look it up but the 3M kit should be what you need. All that you have to supply is a drill and the kit contains everything else. I think the grits included go to at least 1500 and the pad and polish should make them look like new.

Take your time with the sandpaper and don't panic when the headlight comes out after the last grit of paper is used looking opaque. The polish will clear it up nicely. To keep them looking new, use plexus or something similar to gently clean and protect them.
