I’m guessing this thread will be deleted because “politics”…. But anyway, Polestar is unfortunately
going away for the US market. They have been banned by the US Government.

“STOCKHOLM/WASHINGTON, June 25 (Reuters) - Polestar said on Thursday the Trump administration ‌was forcing the electric-vehicle maker to stop selling vehicles in the United States beginning in the 2027 model year as Washington ramps up its crackdown on Chinese vehicles.

The U.S. Department of Commerce did not grant Polestar authorization to sell cars under the Connected Vehicles Rule, which restricts the import and sale of cars with connected-vehicle technology linked to China beginning with the 2027 model year.”

Americans outright resistance to anything EV will always perplex me. Many are the same people who would have turned their nose to Ford and claim their horse drawn buggy doesn't need gasoline or roads. These are early stages and things will only improve. Competition is the benefit of all of us, but alas, here we are.

In before the lock. I don't know how this thread will end but even without the Chinese made factor, their cars aren't that popular and competitive against other brands in the US. Most people think of Polestar not as a Volvo but a Chinese brand, even though the cars itself have a very different design language than the Chinese styled cars they design for their market there.

The same will happen to Lucid, and already happened to Fisker, and VERY LIKELY will happen to Rivian as well.

That’s unfortunate. Polestar made some attractive vehicles, and we are considering an EV for the next car.

I guess we’ll have to go with the Taycan, instead…

As @JeffKeryk says, what’s a poor boy to do? 🤷‍♂️

not that I am against ev or the brand itself but I never seen one on the road just at a Volvo dealership. there must not be a big market here in south Carolina for them.

Didn’t you move to Florida? Golf cart should be you daily driver.

This is what all the guys over 40 that move to Florida are buying.

Best EV bet: Buy a 2-3 yr old Tesla. Best bet of all: buy a Toyota Camry Hybrid. Gotta keep Americans working.
Just turned in a 2026 Toyota Camry hybrid rental with 2k miles. Outstanding vehicle, for all the reports of current model Toyota issues, the 2026 Camry hybrid was flawless and wonderful vehicle for its class.

There is a fair amount of EV in my area especially around commuting times I've never seen a Polestar.
I would only imagine a polestar is a wild vehicle to own/drive but Tesla and their performance packages are obviously heavyweight contenders in the market. If I were in the market and had the coin I would Uber myself to Tesla lol without ever giving thought to what's a polestar.

The Polestar 1 was a “halo” car - clearly Volvo design language in a Grand Touring car with exceptional performance, for about $150,000. Polestar 2 was frumpy at best, with no Volvo design language, just an ugly, blocky car. But the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 are much improved, both in looks and features, but Polestar is not Volvo.

Polestar was a tuning company in Sweden that specialized in tuning Volvos. Volvo acquired them (much like AMG was acquired by Mercedes Benz).

Later, when Volvo was acquired, the parent company, Geeley, a large Chinese car maker, used the Polestar name to launch a new line of luxury EVs.

I don’t know that I would call any of them “wild” but the Polestar 1 looked to be a really nice car, a really nice luxury GT.

Polestar 4 was an attractive alternative to the rest of the EV market.

What worries me - since Volvo is owned by a Chinese Company - is the future to ban Volvo from the US?

Check how low to the ground those things are. A definite issue (or pending issue) for many on here. That's why Toyota sells so many RAV4 at or near MSRP.
