Yup... good 'ole G.W. has done a lot to strengthen the worlds opinion of the USA.
Maybe this statement is a wink and nod to al Qaeda. We are in Iraq, but we don't believe in the cause. Perhaps a measure to make sure that the Islamofascists don't bomb one of their trains? A bit of a reach, perhaps, but with all of the gutlessness displayed in Europe lately, it wouldn't shock me.
I don't think they're rolling over for Al Queda. I imagine he's very sincere. We were lied to by the U.S. (join the club), but we're not going to pull out.

If they never find a single wmd it does not matter. We had every right to be their under the terms of surender that Iraq had signed at the end of the Gulf War. We should have rolled in their while pervert billy boy was in office!
Iraqi's are much safer now then they were before and only have positive things to look forward to know. I can not imagine that government sanction rape, torture and abductions were to good for the people.
If appeasing Europeans is what it takes to make them happy I would rather they hate us! Why should we care what they think! What do they do to help us? Last I checked we send aid all around world at the drop of a dime and ask nothing in return! How often does any one offer to help us? We always have to go a seek out help!! I say the he!! with them!

The way I see it we are pissing away over 500 American lives, billions of dollars, and several thousand Americans wounded or maimed. It's just not worth it for a country that was successfully contained, thus no WMD or terrorist ties. This was about our security so the alleged improvement in the freedoms of Iraqis does not enter into the equation. We are not benefitting from this.

I don't think so. read, "Saddam's Bombmaker." As a physicist I read this book with intense interest. If the Israeli's hadn't bombed their first reactor near Bhagdad, they would have had deliverable nuclear weapons long before desert storm, and the missiles that landed in Isreal and elsewhere would have been tipped with nuclear, instead of conventional explosives.
They were well on their way to recovering their atomic bomb program just before Desert Storm broke out, and before Iraqi Freedom.
Where are their weapons now? Hidden away in either France, Syria, Iran, or North Korea, thanks to the ineptness of the UN and the stalling by some of our so-called "allies," whose butts we saved in WWII.
It amazes me how people forget their own history. The Poles in concentration camps, the French being overrun by the NAZIS, the Spaniards being threatened by the Nazis, etc.
It seems the only country that has not forgetten it's past has been Isreal.

And XS650, what if you are wrong? What if there were WMD and that they are in Syria? And if we someday find this out?

In addition, it is now known that even senior military officials in Saddam Hussein's regime believed that Iraq had WMD. If even these Saddam Hussein people believed that Iraq had WMD, how is President George Bush in the USA supposed to think any differently?

The Clinton administration people believed that Iraq had WMD. Why should Bush be condemned for thinking Iraq had WMD when the previous administration believed the same thing?
Saddam Hussein was certainly funding research into various areas, such as biological weapons.
But someday I think we will find out if there are Iraqi WMD stored in Syria or Iran or wherever. If I was a betting man, which I am not, I would bet that WMD will be eventually found somewhere. People did not think that Libya had much of a WMD program. But they did.

The US believes Iraq was close to having WMD's. France believed Iraq was close to having WMD's. Germany believed Iraq was close to having WMD's. The UN believed Iraq was close to having WMD's. The democrats believed Iraq was close to having WMD's.
Resolution 1441 was the final line in the sand, and Saddam stepped over and got removed. The cost is very high, in lives and dollars. President Bush for sure didn't take the easy decision. Israel plus Turkey plus Iraq, and add in Egypt, and you have the makings of a revolution in the middle east. Democracy will succeed in Iraq, it works everywhere when a dictatorship is not allowed to crush it. The pressure on Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia and elsewhere is ratcheting up. This war could easily take decades, do we have the resolve to win?
Apparently the democrat claims of going to war for cheap oil were nothing more than anti US partisan BS. Who knew! LOL.

The ones who were getting the cheap oil were the liberal favorites France, Germany, Russia, etc., who were taking multi-billion dollar payoffs under the table. While hundreds of thousands of human beings were murdered in Iraq and their bodies placed into mass graves.
