The Delo 400 used to be rated for diesel and gas engines I believe. New formulation does not mention gas rated. Are there any detrimental issues to continue to use it in a gasoline engine? We are talking about a 15 year old engine with 190,000 miles. Been using it for about a year now, started with old formulation. So, comments please.

If the grade available is appropriate for your gasoline engine then the fleet oils are an excellent choice. I wouldn't worry about the lack of SL labeling on the latest bottles.

I've been using Delo 15w40 in my high mileage Legend (382k miles on the original engine) for over 100k miles.

On the Plus side, it has virtually eliminated the chronic tappet clicking that's characteristic of the old Honda V6. It took a while to do this, but IMO it's better than having to put ATF, Restore, etc. into the crankcase and is a bit more of a "permanent" fix than additives.

On the minus side, I used to get it in six gallon cases at Costco for around $38. Last time I looked, it's up to around $58/case.

There may be some negative affects to the converter because of some of the addtives in the Delo (heresay?), but I'm still passing bi-annual emission testing well below the acceptable limits.

Ive been using Esso XD3 0w30 and 0w40 for 2 years now in my 2001 Saab 9-3 SE and have done 50,000 km with XD3. I have had some excellent UOA's down (on file here). My car runs very smooth with it, and it seems to hold up well with my High Output Turbo.

high phosphorus (bad for catalytic converters) and heavy (loss of economy) High phosphorus won't be a problem as long as the engine is not an oil burner. If it uses oil I would recommend staying away from it.

Just had Terry Dyson do a report on my Jeep with the Esso XD-3 OW-40 and I am very happy with this oil in my 4.0L...low FE,no bearing/bushing wear at all in 4,500 miles!
