Google is your friend...try "problems with griots polisher" and "griots polisher warranty problems" to see the plethora of online message board threads, testimonies, and other other sources outlining a variety of issues. Overall, they have good reviews, despite being quite heavy compared to other brands. Glad you are not having any problems with yours and that you like it. Others are not so fortunate (note the post right above yours).

On your last point...many professional detailers (as well as others) use DA polishers all the time but don't own them. I'd trust their views as users as much as anyone who owns one...and perhaps even more...since they use them more often, have a wider range of experience, and in a number of cases...use more than one brand. Some folks (like a few of us) have access to multiple brands, so buying one hasn't been an urgent need. With a recent new vehicle, the choice was made to invest in one.

Just an FYI, I compound and polish cars 6 days a week and Griots has replaced 6 polishers for me or many years with no questions asked. And they even pay to have the old machines shipped back to them. They have my business no doubt as their warranties are the best I have ever dealt with, bar none.

Looks like yours and SatinSilver's experience votes with Griots cancel each other out.

When you read of numerous people trying to get Griots to honor defective products under their "lifetime warranty" and basically told to pound sand, it underscores what kind of company they seem to be. So much for the bullet-proof warranty.

Well after getting the run around by Flex and Rupes on just trying to get the machines fixed (warranty from them, yeah right), the Griots experience was quite pleasurable and I have received the best customer service from them without a doubt. Guess not everyone is so lucky.

I'm still having trouble finding negative reviews on their polishers. Found ONE on autogeek who claimed his warranty was denied on the basis that they were used "professionally."

And let's be clear - SatinSilver said it was a GG "product" - he made no mention of a polisher.

Finding those posts/reviews took all of 3 minutes via a Google search.

As for SatinSilver's post...we're talking about that same wonderful company and how they treat their customers. His information is consistent with other posts easily found that are specifically about the Griots DA polisher in terms of "debating" warranty product repair/replace, in contrast to honoring the supposed lifetime warranty.

Back in the day...if you had a Craftsman tool...you could walk into any Sears and get a replacement for any one of their tools...no questions asked. That's a true lifetime warranty. Griots apparently has a different definition...when in combination with their much-less-user-friendly heavier weight makes them less desirable than alternatives for those 2 reasons.

So now that we have that all cleared up...

We return to the original topic...which is what I responded to prior to getting derailed by one sassy comment and subsequent retort banter.

So moving forward...Griots makes some nice pads, as well as Chemical Guys. I've used both more than once, and actually just ordered a couple from both this week to use with my new Porter Cable DA polisher.
