I can't figure out the function of this part. It's located right behind the center armrest and it is integrated into the storage shelf behind the front seat in the Roaster. The manual is no help.

What’s the bigger context? Wider picture?

Looks like something would snap into those slots. Maybe a cover, but a cover could snap in with less in the corners. Some other feature?

A wider picture won't help. You'd see nothing but storage shelf. Maybe I can take a better picture in daylight.

Its not part of the trunk partition or of the center console or armrest. It's part of the storage shelf behind the front seats. It's not close to the trunk access hatch either.

Edit: I spoke too early. See my post below.

All right poke around that site and find it, i did not see anything else like you describe.

It's listed under trunk partition trim panel (1st link) as 'barrier, storage compartment center' (11). There's supposed to be a cap (12). Maybe it's just a fastener that holds the panel in. Looks weird, though.

@vavavroom: I'd just fit the missing cover and drive on.

I forgot to mention I found the missing cover under the passenger seat. Miss Moneypenny is now all buttoned up and prim and proper. 😉

But did you ever figure out what the part under the cover does?
I can only imagine it's a fastener that holds the panel in. The panel and pretty much everything behind the seats has to be removed if there is a problem with the fuel pump or with the fuel filter.
