just got an email from american reloading they got in a new shipment of magtech primers . i have used them i the past and are my favorite . $235 5K. Even in the past 20 years the lowest i paid for small pistol primers was around $27 1k shipped .

unfortunately i just bought 5k of the servico arg primers a couple of days before. i need to stock up on reloading stuff before the new ammo tax in the peoples replubic of wa hits the book.

Now if only powder would go down . bullets have pretty much dropped down to normal levels

I made a killing on 209 Primers back in 2022. And I dont feel one bit bad for the shop I sold them to.

I’ve had real good luck with the SA primers, have you had issues with them?

have never tried them before so this is the first time. i have used most of the common sp primers in the past. the only one i had issue with was when tula/wolf russian primers . they were hard.

if i had known AR would have magtech primers i would have waited. magtech primers was gone for many years and i loved them and am happy they are back . i put them above the domestic makers . never had one of the 30k i used in the past not go bang . i still may buy 5k .i paid $211 shipped for the SV primers so can't complain.

one interesting thing about magtech primers in the past is that they have a logo on each primer . can always tell what ammo was loded with them. look at magteh loaded ammo and you may notice the stamp on the primer

I was lucky and was able to keep an envious stock of everything rifle and a smaller amount of large pistol. WHat I didn't plan on ever loading and I should have, was 9mm. I have 10/40, 45ACP, 44, & S&W500. Not a single SP primer.

What I'm going to say now it's likely few will believe me. I have shot at least 100k in various 5.56, & 6.8SPCII AR's and a 6.8 bolt action I built with some help, using WOLF SRM primers. I cannot find a load that another primer is observed to produce better or more consistent results....time and time again. The bolt gun is loaded single-stage and the AR's are on a progressive.

got my primers today . loaded 20 rounds of them to try this weekend at the range . they went in smoothly in my machine unlike some that will feel it pop into the hole. all of them were recessed well below the surface loaded the same loaded but with fiocchi primers to see any velocity difference .

Also , i may have bought too early . got an email from tactical ****e they have some turkish sp primers for 2.9 each . came to 195 shipped . holy moly its really dropping like a rock

Not bad price wise, here in Canada I paid equivalent of US$764 (before tax) for 10k Remington SPPs about 6 months ago, they were easy to load and went off 100% on gun with light main spring. Fiocchi were not as smooth to load and I had light strikes. My fav is Federal SPP. Rem and Win worked well for me too. I still remember paying CAD $25 per 1k for Win primers many years ago, prolly best price I've paid.

Large rifle primers are still pretty scarce around these parts. And they're expensive as hell when you do find them. Our club has 209 shotshell primers for $48.00 @ thousand. Cash and carry, no tax.

I'm going shooting this morning, so I'll pick up a couple thousand more today.

I remember when I paid $35 for a box of primers, pre-jab era. Federal, CCI, etc. They are still over double that now.

I'm an FFL (small time) and it was only last summer that primers started to become readily available to smaller dealers. Larger retailers always get priority. After the first of the year, more brands and sizes are becoming available. Also seeing some wholesale prices on ammo falling as well. I think demand has cooled. My observation over the past 30 years is that demand dictates price (wholesale and retail) more than anything. Even when commodity prices rise, it rarely has any impact if demand is slack.

Ammo manufacturers announced in Nov/Dec all sorts of warnings of price increases in ammunition and components to take effect in Jan and Feb. All of them are now on hold...I'm sure due to lack of demand.
