Which one do you prefer and why? Looking at the Lincoln 1134 vs 1147. I have had pistol grip guns for the past number of years because I remember using my Dad lever gun as a teenage and always feeling like I needed a third hand for the job. Thoughts?

I have a pistol grip gun from AAP and it works great. A squeeze or two is all that's needed to top off tie rods and ball joints.

Pistol grip always because you can have one hand free to keep the hose on the zerk. With the lever action you need to either have the gun propped on something while you work the lever or hope the hose stays attached tightly to the zerk.

I prefer the pistol grip because it gives me one free hand to hold the hose onto the grease zirk. My grease gun is a Lincoln 1133 with a flexible hose added to it.

Mini pistol with a lockable swivel end.
Lever for the ag type equipment as the stuff usually needs to blow out a plug of dirt

Years ago I had top shelf grease guns but today unless your doing farm equipment or HD stuff with a lot of zerks don't throw your money away on so called Chinese or Indian made top shelf pieces.
For normal auto service a cheap Lucas brand pistol grip from Home Depot makes 10,000 psi and works better than good enough. If you are doing a lot of field service then the only top shelf gun on the market today is the MacNaught K29 and K32 pistol grips or find a good used Lincoln or Alemite made in USA gun at a flea market for $10.

I have had the lever action one I own for 40 years. If I were to ever have to buy another I would get the pistol grip. But the old one, rarely used anymore, is great when needed.

'Zactly, The one I have has a steel tube with a 45' angle. The trick is to keep the tube hand tight so you can gain more access. The setup is 2 handed. I also can use my chest to press the lever if need be. The Rat has 6 zerks Amazingly, they are accessible.

I've had both and prefer the lever type. Easier to pump.....plus I've been in awkward positions where I couldn't push the lever and had put it against something and push on the grease tube.
