I have an 02 Impala with the 3400 in it and around 33,000 miles. For the past 3000 miles it has started to ping sometimes worse than other times. At first I thought maybe bad gas so I tried other brands and have the same problem,The pinging happens on acceleration between 30 to 50 miles per hour, at moderate acceleration not stepping on it. Any ideas to help me correct this problem, Thanx

Anytime I started pinging in my old truck (95 Dodge) I switched to mid-grade, and that quieted about 95% of the pinging. Every once and a while I'd try regular again, and the pinging would immediately resume.

This was back when I was a kid and thought that Slick-50 was a bona-fide engine oil additive tho.

Two thoughts.

Check with you vehicle's tsb's and see if this problem is addressed. The computer may need to be reflashed.

Your engine may be a candidate for water injection treatment to clean combustion deposits... but 33K seem rather early.

Ive had a pinging problem that Ive been working on...in my search I found(on Impala forums) lots of reference to MotorVac...those Impala guys(dozens) raved about the service. Had I not tried Seafoam I was heading to my local MotorVac service provider.
