He could go with the 5/8x8/5x5/8 tee, then reduce the one hose down to 3/8.

Or, he could go with a 5/8 brass female tee with appropriate hose barb connectors:

NAPA has those plastic reducer tees also...maybe better? (probably not?)

Got a email back from Dorman, they asked if I could send them the old fittings backs so their engineers could look at them. They also offered to send me some new ones for free.

I got my order from mcmcaster in today. Here is one I put together for a comparison. It is a 3/8 npt tee with 2 3/8npt x 5/8 barbs and a 3/8npt x 3/8 barb

I'm pretty happy, not as bulky as I was expecting. Normally I avoid plastic fittings, but the all in one tee made me try it for it small clean install, well I learned my lesson. This brass one will out last the vehicle.

Nice of dorman to offer to send new ones for free tho.

GM GEN II coolant elbows from Dorman sold under the Help label are notorious for poor fit and leaks. American made OEM have no problems.
It seems Dorman has some real problems probably with their Chinese manufacturer.

Plus I see the problem with the plastic version.... its stamped right there for all to read. :-/

Dorman is really on my ****-list for badly made parts these days. A shame, used to be a name you could count on.
