I found a good deal on a leftover 25’ triple black R1300GS.

I traded in the KTM790 adventure on the BMW. I test Rode this 25’ R1300GS and a 26’ S1000XR back to back and it was a very tough decision.

The XR shifts smoother, and sounds better, but I’m not sure I could spend 10-12 hour days in the saddle and I enjoy cross country touring.

The GS is more comfortable, has shaft drive, and has less high frequency vibes. The GS is definitely more vibey at idle however.

Ultimately I decided on the GS because the deal was really good, the comfort, the shaft drive for touring.

Nice. Was there anything wrong with the KTM or you just wanted an upgrade?

It was mechanically sound. Cruise control would stop working randomly (probably a brake switch) but otherwise it was running well.

I just decided to upgrade to something more road touring focused as I never go off-roading. The KTM was actually a decent road touring bike for a middleweight ADV.
