After I retired from the USN I worked for a major consulting company based in McLean, VA. We were issued nothing but Lenovo laptios. Never had an issue.
"Dell Outlet" is outlet/clearance/returns from Dell's retail website.
"Dell Refurbished" are computers that come off-lease and sent back to Dell.
If anyone have worked at a big firm, there are always some peeps who demolish their stuff like you wouldn't believe; and others whi somehow manage to keep things pristine
UPDATE: Just ordered one.
Went with Dell Refurbished. Latitude 5420 14" screen. i5 Quad (11th gen), 16GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, Win 11 Pro.
With 40% off, free shipping and tax: $390.98 OTD.
Hopefully good for awhile. Thanks again to everyone who helped.

Hope to copy your experience.
I forgot to mention that I purchased an "A."
I paid the small extra premium to buy a refurb from the manufacturer hoping that the fact that they have dibs on the "Pick of the litter" and that they may value their reputation would pay off in regards to getting a good one.
I ended up going with the Dell because I found very few Lenovos available with better than a gen 10 processor, and those available were priced at a premium.
I figured that the worst case scenario would be either that I get a lemon, or that I spend a couple of years breaking in Mrs. Tdbo's next computer.
For the price, I figured it was worth rolling the dice.
Just got the machine yesterday.
The machine itself is clean. Not a mark on it.
Only way that I can recognize that it is a refurb is a sticker on the bottom that says "Refurbished by Dell Financial Services."
That, and a sticker on the bottom of the power pack that has some very visible wear.
However, it is an actual Dell power pack, and not some aftermarket one like the Thinkpad had after I bought it.
I got my wife a really nice HP chromebook. It has like 16gb memory and around. 350 GB SSD . Boots up really fast. Select a website and its instant. I am on my Fire tablet. I hate waiting on Windows updates and boot ups and shutdowns. We hardly ever use our windows anymore. When other do what you want quicker why is Windows not any better. Give me Windows 2000. We have 11 and hate it.
