I have song that I downloaded as a .php file...I've never heard of this format, and none of the programs that I have acn play it...does anybody know a player which can play this type of file?

well, I opened it with Winamp this time (don't know why I never did it in the first place before I posted), and it worked !!!. (a bit choppy in a few places, but pretty good sq overall)
I guess I did download the song, because I tried playing it without connected to the web, and that worked, too.

Chances are the song was downloaded and was stored in a temp directory even though it was from a streaming site. When you tried to play it not connected to the net, it used the temp file.
I might suggest opening the file with Notepad/Wordpad. I'd be interested in seeing what is inside. PHP is a programming language as noted. It is generally used to create dynamic web content.

notepad wouldn't open it for several min...then I tried with word, and this is what it looks like!!:
EDIT: I can't post my reply when I paste the stuff that I got from word onto the reply form. I get a message that en error occured. Only when I took off the weird characters out of the post, was I able to post this reply. !!!??!!

You won't be able to copy and paste it here. This forum accepts UBB code and not HTML nor PHP. PHP stands for Personal Home Page, and part of an acronym of Hypertext Pre Processing or PHP for short. It is server side scripting language designed to add flexibility and functionallity to web developemnt Developed by Rasmus Lerdorf in 1995, it has really nothing to do with music extensions. Like said earlier, you probably have it now somewhere in a temp file on your computer. Be careful downloading such files. PHP can also be a powerful scripting language to do some things you really don't want it to do.

I tried to open it again with word, and attach it to yahoo! mail, but it wouldn't do it (I AM on dial-up, though). it kept trying to attach it about 10 min, and I finally gave up, and tried to cancel the whole thing, but FF was frozen, wouldn't do a thing. had to shutdown and restart...I don't know; perhaps it's a good thing that I wasn't able to send it to you, huh? (or have I made your curiosity even stronger now???)

If you're using web-based email, they may limit the size or the type of attachments that you can send. You don't use Outlook Express or some other dedicated mail application?
How big is that file?
If they don't allow you to send .php files (maybe because they could easily carry viruses and malware), then rename that file extension to something begin like .123 and try to attach it then.
