I'm going to have the siding on my house off this spring to do some extra insulating. While I'm at it I need to run a new phone line from the outside box to my computer and phone... what do you get or ask for? thanks

Ok thanks, it appears the old line has a regular phone chip on the end and clips in under the box. Can use buy with the clip on.
The outside box is called a demarcation box or point. Should be the black line from the pole or ground to two screw terminals. An RJ-11 phone plug should be there for the wire running into the house. The phone company did this many years ago to isolate whether the problem was on "their" (delivery of service) or "your" end (in the house). There should be a distribution block in the house to tap into for extra lines to your computer, or you may have a more recent demarc box that uses taps (similar to circuit breakers) that attach to the "bus" and add a line in the box.
Thanks for the replies!... I'll go down to Lowe's when I'm ready and get the cable. When i open the box I'll understand it better or maybe called the phone guy and let him do it. It will be a cinch once i get the outside wall opened up because the phone jack inside it right by the box. The whole place is jerry-rigged but I'm slowly working on it.
