Also too much oil caused or increased the rate of delamination.

The "anti-corrosion" oil coating is the theory? Hard to say, but may be possible.

That was my thoughts on this specific filter only. If people like them, great. I personally wouldn't hoard these for future use.. My thoughts only are buy when required. I do that with everything automotive these days.
