Luckily the huge Mexican population on the SW side of Detroit brings with it a supply of the "Real Thing", I'm with you guys, I usually get the mexican Coke. But it costs major cash! The best deal I can get is $1.25/bottle if I buy a case from one guy. But usually they want $1.75 or $2.00 for the 12oz bottle at most of the party stores around here. Never have seen it at Costco or Sams around here, they usually just have the tiny little glass bottles with HFCS.

But it is sweet to be able to get HFCS free Pepsi and MD at a cheap price. Last time around I got a bunch of the throwback at (5)12 packs/$10.

To me the HFCS free stuff, including Mexican Coke is just way smoother in the taste, it completely lacks the bitter after taste I get with current sodas that include HFCS.
The flavor of the kola and the vanilla in Coke and the fruity flavors of the MD just come through much cleaner for me at least. There is a world of difference in taste IMO.

Stashin' Oil, now stashin' Real Pepsi...!!

Sugar snobbery and politics aside I can barely taste the difference. Prefer Coke to pepsi (but not enough to decline a major sale stock up event) so the difference in two different kinds of pepsi is hard for me to sniff out.

PS I drove to Massachusetts last spring looking for yellow-cap Passover Coke.

I taste the difference with the throwback. I too prefer coke, but noticed that when I tried a mexican coke from the mexican food truck, I couldn't tell a huge difference with coke products. May just be an alignment of the taste buds.

The throwback is just sooo good with a splash of Cruzan dark rum.

They say HFCS sticks to the teeth while sugar goes down smooth. Might be the placebo effect but I can kinda feel it.

Both throwbacks were OK, but I still prefer Coke over Pepsi.

The MD Throwback was good, but didn't have orange juice concentrate like the regular version. So it was missing that little hint of citrus kick. I work with a bunch of Dew heads, and most of em didn't care for the throwback.

I'll be grabbing some for sure, not a big soda drinker but gotta get it while the gettin's good.

Good to hear that it's back.

Pepsi Throwback in cans vs HFCS Pepsi...not much difference in taste, disappointing really. In a bottle, night & day difference, just like old times :) Bottles is the only way to drink Throwback IMO...

glass bottles?

I'm glad they are bringing it back

I don't taiste much of a difference in cans, but then again, even if it taisted exactly the same, I'd be getting the cane sugar version.........

A REAL rum and coke is Rum and COKE

Boylans is great, but expensive.
Faygo just came out with glass bottle HFCS free stuff as well.
Jones IMO sucks, their flavors are to "out there" for me, and their coke is FLAT.

I wouldn't call it that, but it is good to mix with cheap whiskey, like Evan Williams.

Is it specifically labeled as "cane sugar"? If not, odds are if it's just labeled "sugar" and was bottled in the USA it was derived from sugar beets.

The vast majority of sugar in the USA is derived from beets and no distinction is made in labeling.
