People blocking charging stations.

That was not a fine, you simply would not get served if you came in at the wrong day. And gas crisis was not something that was happening for the past 20 years prior to 70s, like grid crisis in CA.

This is nothing new in CA, and it surely is not peoples fault for using electricity.
People who caused problems were arrested depending on how bad a problem they caused. You don't block charging stations, you enforce rules or you have chaos.

Maybe you misunderstood me, where did I say I supported people blocking the charging stations?

I said that they are taking out their frustrations on the wrong people and most definitely should not be blocking these stations.

Thing about everyone taking matters to their own hands: nobody will be right. There is a reason we have laws and people follow them, and the way to "fix" is to petition to change them instead of going around blocking stations.

What if tree huggers decided to blow up refinery or oil well? Isn't that the same? Justified because it is "for the greater good"?

You didn't and neither did I. I offered a suggestion of how to reduce/stop problem causing people.

I am absolutely certain the people who are blocking the charge stations threw the main breaker at their house to ensure no electricity use before they left home. / sarc

You have the right to protest the station not block it. In my neck of the woods they would have been forcibly removed by the police or owner. Around here during hurricane's some stations limit you to small amounts - like 10 gallons or less, when supply is short. Maybe they can just limit to some percentage charge?

Only if you want to discuss technicalities.

Like I said earlier, it’s easy to take out your frustrations on others, and it creates a divide in people that have zero say in how the grid is run.

Weren’t some EV drivers doing something similar at gas stations when gas was hitting all time highs during the last recession over 10 years ago? I thought I read something on it.

People should be using this opportunity to take those accountable to take action, not be pitted against each other.
Not condoning this driver's actions in blocking the charging station.

Just taking issue with the statement that the owners of EVs had "nothing to do with the problem".

I would not compare the grid crisis to water. You can’t just simply produce water.

This will just deflect the blame at regular people because they “did not do their part” instead of putting the spotlight at those truly responsible.
It was just 60 years ago that residential AC became common, before that, people didn't live in the desert in 3k sqft houses. The problem is the people who moved to the desert, yet never expect to have to deal with desert problems...I want Fescue and 68F inside temps when it is 111F outside, that is overconsumption and overconsumption IS the problem here.

I take issue with people being told that EV's are the solution to all our problems and then being told they're the problem.

Don't tell people that EV's are this amazing, wonderful solution when you don't have the infrastructure to support people owning them. Cart before the horse, so to speak.

Maybe we need a new forum called EV Schadenfreude. So in solidarity with and in sympathy for the California greens, last night I cut off my HVAC and opened the bedroom windows. The late summer night backyard sounds were very soothing.

I feel good that my tiny gift helped.

reduce the charge speed, at 1/4 the speed you can only serve 1/4 of the cars.
