I'm considering using Pennzoil Ultra in 5W-20 for one of my cars, and 5w30 for the other one. Question is how much better is the Ultra then Platinum or Pennzoil conventional. I plan to go 12 months oci. I generally drive each vehicle about 4000 miles per year. I do drive long enough trips to warm oil to operating temp. I'm not worried about condenstion causing oil to become acidic. It's usually very dry in West Texas.

Thanks

The posted used oil analysis of Ultra have very impressive TBN. If I were going with 12 month OCI.....I would pay the extra couple of bucks and go with Ultra...hands down. No question PP is excellent....but I like the BIGGER TBN of Ultra.

I am about to move my daughter's T-Yaris to twelve month OCI's and I have decided on Ultra.

Either the Ultra or Platinum would serve you well for what you want to do. When I could get it, and if I could now get the Ultra, I would use it, but the Platinum is an excellent oil. One of my Elements has Platinum in it and the other has the Ultra. Both will be on Platinum next oil change.

4000 mile OCI's ?....I think Pennzoil Platinum or Pennzoil Ultra is just overkill...Save some $$$ and go with Pennzoil conventional....or for close to the same $$...I would consider MotorCraft 'Blend'.

Filter suggestions: Purolator Classic or PureOne, Napa Gold

Lonestar, I chose PU for my new FX4 and run PP in both of the my other vehicles. So far, I am impressed with PU (not to say that PP may not have had equally good numbers); I chose PU over PP because of the claims of superior engine cleanliness otherwise PP would have been the oil of choice. IMHO, you cannot go wrong with either.

Here are my used oil analysis thus far with MC 5w-20 (Factory Fill) and 2 OCIs with PU - 2010 FX4 PU used oil analysis

Here in NWNJ at my local Walmart I can get Pennzoil Ultra. Last I looked it's ~$28 per 5 quart jug. They also have quart bottles at a higher per quart price than the 5 quart jug.
