Pennzoil Ultra 5w20

I changed the oil in the wife's CX9 yesterday, and I noticed the debris in the bottom as seen in other posts here even though I shook it vigorously before pouring in the oil. With a small amount left in the container and in the sun, I was shake it some more and got some of the material suspended.


Should I leave it alone or add the remaining small amount?

Do you have a funnel that would hold a coffee filter in it? I would filter it through a coffee filter first if you are concerned about those particles.

Option 2 is to not add it to the crankcase.

It's up to you...but the majority of PP jugs I've used ( and likely Pure Plus-GTL variants ) have this bit where only part of it shakes back into suspension. There's been several threads on here about this topic and the answer I come away with is that part of it is additives and a secondary component is the "baked in" element on the bottom that Pennzoil advises is part of their production cycle with this oil ( PP and PUP ). I've dumped all of it in since I first used PP five years ago and there hasn't been any ill effect that I'm aware of...

Dude, Valvoline FS in the 5w-20 is the one you hadsta get. Don't get me wrong but the Noack is below 6 on it.

Valvoline Advanced has a pretty low Noack, but not "below 6" ... it's 7.6 for the 5W20.
