Pennzoil Platinum HM

Opinions on this oil? I have never used it and was not aware it existed till recently. I am happy with my current fill of conventional Pennzoil High Mileage, which has turned the oil nice and dark brown in 2K, with only a few drops of consumption.

But for my next OCI I want to go synthetic. Figured the Platinum HM was the logical next step, but I don't know much about it. I have used M1-HM, which worked well, but the Mobil rebate expired and the PZ rebate is still going.

If the HM additive is the same or better in the Platinum HM as in 'regular' Pennzoil High Mileage it looks like a winner. Thoughts? Thanks.

They always put more goodies in their higher tier products, so more detergents and larger doses of the goodies most likely, with the given that you get a better percentage of synthetic base oils as well.

I had no complaints with it, I just changed it out of my Camry the other day after 7,500 miles. Sending in a used oil analysis on Monday.

Definitely interested in seeing that. I'm interested in it as an alternative to Mobil 1 High Mileage - like it but why not compare? I have seen no VOAs or used oil analysis. I was thinking of buying some Pennzoil Platinum High Mileage 10w30 next month and getting a VOA.

The thing that makes me less than optimistic about it is that it is SN, and likely missing the healthy levels of ZDDP the SL Mobil 1 High Mileage has.

I'll definitely be posting it when I get it back. I'm now running Mobil 1 Extended Performance so perhaps everyone can compare the two after this fill is done.
