Gonna give it a try on my 08 Mazda3 and the Wife's 07 300C.
Using MC filter on the M3 and OEM on the 300C. Is it possible to get 7-10k before OCI?

Gotcha, yea both are under warranty. Guess I should stick with 5k on the M3 but I'm pretty sure the 300C has an oil change indicator though never have seen it come on as we change oil every 5k, have to check what the warranty says on OCI

Will easily do 7.5K and probably more with UOA as your guide, but agree with the warranty statement above.

Depending on how you drive the Mustang GT blown & cammed 540 rwhp will dictate how often to change it.

The Platinum is an excellent product.

Just sticking with the MC on the Stang, has done very well for me

Well, you are still under warranty, I would think.

If you are out of warranty, fine.

Lets say you are still under warranty, and you do your 10,000 mile OCI and then have a problem with a lubricated part in your engine, you go to the Dealer, and you tell them you have been doing a 10,000 mile OCI, your warranty will be voided for not following the manufactures recommended OCI.

The chances of having a problem are slim, but there was a member back in the day who extended her OCI to 7200 miles on her Ford Motorhome when it was supposed to be changed at 5000 miles. Her car had 27,000 miles and she fought with Ford for 6 months, I think the cost to fix her car was like $6000.00

She took Ford's offer and agreed to pay $2000.00

But, if she had changed her oil accordeing to the owner's manual she probably would not have had to pay anything.

So if you are still under warranty and want to do a 10,000 mile OCI, just realize there are risks that IMO are just not worth taking.

Good thing he is running this in a Mazda instead of in a blown and cammed Mustang.

I run MC in the Stang mainly because it's inexpensive and great oil, after a beating at the track I change the oil/filter

If Motorcraft 5w30 oil will work in this Mustang the Platinum 5w30 will darn sure work as well.

I should know for myself, soon. I'm waiting on my 7800mi UOA on Pennzoil Platinum 5w20. It should get here any day now and I left the oil in. Needless to say, I'm getting ancy. The oil being UOA'd is from my 2.3L Mazda6i.

As a side, I thought Mazda was 5000 miles for severe service and 7500 for normal? I think that is what my 6i is.

Why would you TELL them you've been doing 10,000mile OCIs? Warranty is a game whether or not you've been doing OEM OCIs or dealer service or what have you. Go to the 7,000 mile OCI and TELL them you've been doing 5,000 mile OCIs. It isn't that hard.

2008 Mazda 3 Owners Manual says 5W20 SM every 7500 miles or 6 months for USA Schedule I (Normal). The Mazda 2.0 and 2.3 appear to be very easy on oil. The MC SB usually lasts 7500 miles based on the UOA around here. Change the PP every 6 months or 7500 miles until its out of warranty. Save receipts for oil and filter just in case.

On the 300C just follow the OLM if it has one (Read the Owners Manual to make sure it does not have any special provisions like 1 year max) with the PP.

He was asking about 5w-20.

Actually he wasnt asking about the Mustang (MC 5W30) at all.

i just changed the oil in my moms taurus x from motorcraft full synthetic too Pennzoil ultra it seamed like the motorcraft had thickened up as the milage had gone down quite a bit hopfuly the Pennzoil ultra will keep its grade a little better

I thought SRT 6.1 Hemis use 5W-40 and the 5.7 with the MDS require 5w-20?

Why are your using 5w-20 in an SRT???

He said it was a SRT. They have a 350 bhp 5.7L not a 6.1L. You are confusing it with the SRT-8. They are two different things. Its like a BMW 330 with the M Package vs a M3.

SRT = Sport Suspension, Big Brakes, 20" Wheels, Revised PCM with raised Speed Limiter. High Flow Intake and Exhaust, 350 bhp, SRT Body Mods, SRT Interior Mods.
