I posted earlier that my oil tends to darken quickly. I've been using Mobil 1 15w50 for almost 2 years in my truck since I bought it. I went to the other extreme 3 weeks ago. Switched to Pennzoil Platinum 5w20. 1800 miles and it still looks clean. I'm thinking it's cause more highway miles in a short period of time? Or because I ran MMO with dino for a short 1500 mile OCI then did gunk flush? Or because I was going too long before with Mobil 1 10k ocis which made the engine dirty?
Or maybe PP not cleaning as good as Mobil 1 did and hence the oil looks cleaner? (this one I doubt).
Been using Mobil 1 in wifes minivan for almost 8 years 10k ocis and something tells me I should do some serious cleaning/flushing. Oil gets dark very quickly in her van also.
