Does anyone know the starting TBN of Pennzoil High Mileage? I've been wondering about switching from PP xW-30 to Pennzoil High Mileage (or maybe Valvoline MaxLife) xW-30 after my truck hits 150,000 miles, mostly due to the slightly higher viscosity @ 100°C (Also, the HT/HS numbers for Pennzoil High Mileage on Pennzoil's website look pretty good for a non-synthetic oil.)- but I want something with a good starting TBN.

Anybody else switch from Pennzoil Platinum to Pennzoil High Mileage? If so, what was your experience?

Not sure what it is, but somewhere around 10 I think. My question would be at 150,000 miles does your truck consume any oil, is there blow by or seals leaking. If not there is no reason to switch to a HM type oil.

But but but... If my engine has 75,001 on it I MUST!

I know because it even says it on the bottle!

PS: I've NEVER used High Mileage oil, even in a 300,000 miles plus motor...

I consume just a shade under a quart every 6,000 miles (on PP). No external leaking so assuming this is just a small amount of oil burning.

LOL... I've gone all the way to 135,000 miles so far without High Mileage oil... I don't care that the bottle says "high mileage", I just liked the look of the HT/HS and viscosity @100°C...

I liked the way I ran on GC the few times I used it, but the price of GC is prohibitive. I have 2 changes worh of PP in the garage, which will get me to 152,000 on my standard 6k OCI. Its at that point I'm wondering if I could switch to something a bit thicker. 11.5-12.2 cSt @ 100 is what I'm looking for, which pretty much narrows it down to Pennzoil High Mileage, Valvoline MaxLife, or GC (or blending).

A TBN of around 10 would be just what I am looking for...

haha, well spoken. The only reason I am using/trying the Mobil 1 High Mileage is due to a rear seal leak I am hoping to fix but will most likely have it fixed at the shop.
