Pennzoil 5 qt jugs / no foil seal

I had rather not have a foil seal myself, I once had a foil seal go into a radiator when changing the coolant out. If they can seal a bottle with a little snap plastic ring around the top, and use a seal in the top (the foam/plastic seal) that's the way i like them. They are still tamper proof because of the little plastic ring under the top the snaps off once open. If someone was going to the trouble to get by the snap plastic snap ring, a foil seal would not be any problem either.

Yep... just bought a 5 qt jug of Synpower from WM last week and it had a foil seal.

I don't pay to have oil changed, but don't most of those places have "bulk" containers/barrels? Can't imagine it being cost-effective to stock individual quarts or ever 5 quart containers.

they have bulk oil and by request usually have 1qt bottles for an extra 1$/qt or something.

Wow, thats a pretty offensive statement. Do you judge everyone before you get to know them or just lube techs.

Obviously you have never had a JL tech do $450 worth of damage to your car by stripping the drain bolt or $10,000+ in damage to my friends BMW 740 by not tightening the drain bolt. (yes a 740il but his wife took it there)

X2, My Neighbor took his 2001 Elantra to JL,and they did also strip the drain bolt. They had to replace the whole pan, If i remember correctly.

I recently purchased a Pennzoil YB 5 quart jug from Walmart and it did not have a foil seal. I purchased a 5 Litre jug of Valvoline Premium Conventional at the same time and it did have a foil seal. I'm not saying one is better than the other, just letting you guys know.

Bottles I`ve seen with foil seal.......Valvoline dino,M1,Redline,RP gallons and gear oil.

Bottles I`ve seen with no seal,but with the "break loose" plastic ring(which I prefer)........Pennzoil dino,RP quarts,Amsoil.

I hate the foil seal. Just a pita.

Check this out:

Bought a couple of jugs of MC 5W-20 at Wally's. For some reason, I decided to remove the caps and check the foil seal; both had the foil partially dislodged. I made a tiny mark on the bottom of the bottles and brought them back in and exchanged them at the customer service counter where I showed them the seal so they would know they were potentially tampered-with. Went back a couple weeks later for some more and checked all the jugs on the shelf. You guessed it: one of them was a jug I had returned...foil was still loose.

Lesson learned. Now I check before I leave the aisle.

Your absolutely right I have NEVER had a JL or WM tech do ANY damage to any of my vehicles!

I have a oil stain in the floor mat passenger side, because Mongo drove my Civic back in the garage with such force the 5 qt jug of PP leaked when it fell over at the HONDA dealer.Ofcourse Mongo did not pick it up till the oil leaked out.I like the foil. I pop them off with a car key, same way I clean out ear wax.

Are you sure it's not leftovers from PP? I hear that wax build up is something PZ is noted for. Use a different key for the ear. I'll bet it comes out clean.

$10,000? Now we're getting to the point of making up large numbers.

I don't doubt that a BMW engine will cost $10,000 installed, or that someone may not cinch down a drain plug enough.

Saying that all WM and JL techs are idiots is an ignorant statement, thats all.
