pennzoil 2 cycle oil?????????

good evening fellas.i was cruising the oil aisle at the local wal-mart and i saw some pennzoil 2 cycle oil in a yellow bottle.i believe it said that you can use it for air or water cooled engines.i was just wondering if it was any good.how does it compare to stihl orange bottle 2 cycle mix?i wanna use it in my stihl products,chain saw,weed whacker,blower.

Pennzoil does make a 2-cycle oil for air cooled engines that works very well in Stihl products. If the product you saw at Walmart said it was for water cooled engines TCW 3, then I would not recommend it for your Stihl products.

thanks johnny.it said for water cooled and also a general 2 cycle oil for air cooled.i think it was for tcw3 and also just tc.

just rechecked the bottle and it does say multi-purpose for marine and air cooled outdoor products.and i was mistaken it is only tcw-3 and not tc.so,i went to aap and they had a few just pennzoil 2 cycle outdoor products for air cooled that was just tc rated and i bought all but 2 on the shelf.i wonder how does this stuff stack up against the stihl orange bottle mix?

Find out where Stihl buy their oil and compare them. That should answer your question.

OPE Brand name oils are purchased from suppliers who provide lubricants suitable for the application at the cheapest cost. Personally, I wouldn't spend a dime on them. You can get excellent off the shelf two stroke oil for much less money at any automotive supply outlet.

All the Pennzoil 2 cycle oil I've ever seen is TCW-3 for water cooled engines. Not a good idea for air cooled engines, even though they claim so on the bottle. I noticed at a local store, the "regular" Pennzoil is actually more expensive than the Pennzoil synthetic blend, which is very popular in the outboard motor community.

It's too bad you can't do a used oil analysis on a 2 stroke...

According to Pennzoil, it exceeds API TC, though there is no mention of it on the packaging.
