need help with 2 cycle oils please

alright fellas i was all set to go out and buy some mobil 1 mx2t/racing 2t but got on the mobil site and they have discontinued it back in '07.i have a stihl 260 pro chain saw,stihl fs 200 weed whacker,stihl blower, and a stihl hedge trimmer.all recommend running on 50:1 mix and that is what i have done for several years with the stihl orange bottle but i just wanted to go synthetic and not stihl brand unless it is excellent oil.

I have been using the Echo 2 cycle oil mix for years, it is now semi-synthetic. I use this in my Echo and Stihl equipment.

I can't speak of the Echo oil but what I use for a replacement to the Mobil MX2T is Torco GP7. It's a comparable oil to the Mobil product and still available.

You can check it out at Torco's web site.

I still recommend oils that meet ISO-L-EGD and JASO FC or FD ratings. I stay away from any oils sold at hardware stores that don't carry these ratings.

Everyone has their favorite oil, choose one with these ratings as they are the best available.

Klotz R50 will be what I use for OPE when I use up my stash of Mobil 2T Racing.

Stihl white bottle oil ( Full Synthetic ) is excellent oil, use it at 50:1 with confidence. Many landscape companies are going to it exclusively. In fact, I just sold two 5 gallon pails of it to one company.

How much of that is Stihl's policy to double warranty periods if you buy a case of oil, and how much is it actually proving itself superior?

As said, there are plenty of excellent two stroke lubes on the market equivalent to Mobil 1 Racing 2T (which we still get here BTW)

In no particular order, Elf, Motul, Silkolene, Maxima, Klotz, Castrol, Redline, Amsoil, Agip, Motorex, etc, etc all make excellent two stroke race spec. oils.

Do some reading, do some looking around. The 'best' race oils from these blenders often don't carry any JASO licences as they are race spec oils, if that worries you, use one of their JASO licensed products (which are usually cheaper anyway)
