Just found some of this green Penngrade at my local Advanced Auto. Not listed on their website but they had some cases in the back. First I've ever heard of it. Kinda looks like Molygen, color-wise.

This any good? I might try to get them to drop the price and sell it to me as it doesn't seem anyone is buying it in my podunk area.

Penngrade bought out Brad Penn some years ago. If you search Brad Penn here, you will find out it was a relatively well respected niche type product. Without doing lots of research, it is tough to know whether the Penngrade product is the same as the old Brad Penn product. Maybe someone here will chime in with some good knowledge.

2018 White Paper: https://penngrade1.com/performance-proven-the-case-for-the-original-green-oil/
"At the time of the purchase, the agreement between D-A Lubricant and ARG stated ARG would maintain the blending and packaging of the PennGrade 1 family of products for the short-term"

Yes very interesting. From Lebanon, Indiana, of all places.

I might walk in there tomorrow and see what they'll accept for the case. I'm sure I can put it to use. Interestingly, they also stock some Liquimoly and are honoring the recent spate of oil + filter combo sales that are at the other brick and mortar stores.

I checked their bottles of Leichtlauf and the newest stock is from 2020...

They primarily use their own base oils, which they still refine on site. Their base stocks are not the same as say, Chevron / Motiva / XOM / Adnoc / Petro Canada, etc. due to the small quantity they refine, with the bulk of it going into Rail Road engine oils, it’s doubtful that they have the quantity to justify the cost of testing for official approvals. But I have no doubt their in their products over all.

I’ve used it. Don’t think it’s anything special. I’ve run it in big blocks/small blocks and now I just go with VR1. Cheaper and easier to find, and I’ve always had good success. I’ve run their gear oils as well. Never ran anything in a passenger car. If it was me I’d do a pass and stick with the majors for passenger cars

Is D-A using the same base oils as ARG was using in the Penn Grade products?

I do and probably will, but you had to see this case it was collecting dust in a backroom, along with 4-year old jugs of Liquimoly. I honestly thought I could walk out of there with it almost for free. I might still try!

So my local heating oil place is also a distributor of Penngrade. They had said that ARG doesn’t supply them with base oils anymore. Thats what I had heard.

Any info on the dexos 0w20? My Napa has a 6 gallon box that ends up around $5 per quart. Is Penn grade on par with upper brands or a run of the mill synthetic?
