So what f you owe tax on it? I would transfer it immediately and see what happens, just don't spend it. I would gladly pay the tax on it. I had this happen with $100. I am guessing someone paid it to me by accident. I transferred it to my checking and never heard another thing about it.

I had $3500 deposited in my personal checking acct I rarely use.
Found it 4 months later. Went to the bank and they told me that it wouldn't be in my account unless it was mine....what????
Seven years later it is still in there.

PayPal says they are working on it and my account has not been compromised

PayPal has its place BUT overall a PITA if you need to contact them + can NOT as usual!! their xtra charges are an issue as well, so they are a LAST resort!

Your account was compromised and you transferred it into a secure place in case you need to pay it back. Simple explanation
