Patio Privacy Ideas

Just have your wife call that man next door a creepy pervert and a peeping tom for watching her over her fence with cameras directly into the patio where she is and have her put it up on facebook and have her tell all the neighbors. Being a woman makes it easy to say that and not be labeled as libel since the law barely goes after them and also takes them more seriously to being spied on by men.

You can also remove the spike and mount this wherever it can get the most direct light shine or ray or whatever straight into the camera to make his camera go white. Try to find one that gives a more focused spot.

Can you take a picture of his camera from your patio and share it? I'm actually curious as to how it's set up.
Just a simple Blink camera.

There is nothing illegal about having a security camera and record what’s going on beyond your own property lines as long as it also records your own property.
OP would have to prove that his neighbor’s camera only records OP’s property and not his own, which is likely not the case.

It quite interesting to see how many people are ok being recorded by corporations and governments, but freak out at anybody recording privately.

I bet if there was a business next door to the OP with cameras all around, nobody would see anything wrong with it.

From the photo, I can’t see anything legitimate that the camera is monitoring. I think some selective tall boards or pickets mounted to the existing fence should solve things. You could also install some posts and have some hanging planters.

My in-laws have a covered patio with a hard roof. My MIL is very paranoid about neighbors watching them (she has blackout curtains on all windows at all times), and I bought them powered solar shades that can drop down on the two open sides. You have a tin awning, so I doubt this is an option.

C'mon now! I believe this is a little more personal. It's obviously not for security reasons. :ROFLMAO:

Given the apparent proximity of the camera to your fence, perhaps a simple 3' length of 1x12 board nailed to your fence would block his view and send a message. If he moves the camera, move the board. Much more work for him than you, and could be fun.

Unfortunately, it's the neighbor's fence.

I agree. With the camera that close to the fence it'll be easy to block it.

Seeing where the camera is, it shouldn't take much to block its view. That's why I wanted to see a picture of its location.
I was wondering if it was somewhere the neighbor could move it around to get another angle.

Does the motivation matter? If it’s legal to do, it’s legal to do.
On the other hand several people suggested pointing a laser or getting the wife to make some sort of accusations. Now those would be questionable from the legal perspective.
