I don't believe the paraglider went airborne from exiting an aircraft. I suspect he launched off a cliff, etc.

Yes, but funny watching the video again, he is wearing shorts. No different than wearing shorts on a motorcycle. Might imply the confidence level/ arrogance level of the paraglider.
