Hi,

I bought a fellowes personal 7-page confetti shredder this weekend, so that I can do more to protect myself, besides just ripping stuff up into small squares...

We have a big shreadere at work, and the label says to lubircate it with 10w-30 engine oil at specific intervals, explained based upon use.

THis one says that it needs to be oiled regularly as well... but it states to:

quote:

Using Fellowes Powershed Lubricant #35250 or other non-aerosol vegetable-based oil in a long nozzle container

Further down it warns:

quote:

REMINDER: Do not use flammable synthetic oil, petroleum-based products or aerosol lubricants of any kind in or near the shredder at any time.

Firstly... wat would really be the best lubricant for a paper shredder? ND30 oil? ATF?

Second: WHy do they make those reccomendations? Fire hazzard? The possibility of your oil-soaked paper starting on fire, causing you to sue fellowes for starting a fire?

ANy ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

JMH
