I wash and spray wax the Accord once a week on average, planning on doing it tomorrow but I just bought some Meguiars Gold Class paste wax to apply instead of the spray wax. Wanting to get a coat on before its too cold to wash by hand. My question is will the new coat of paste wax stick on properly since there are coats of spray wax underneath? Or will it all just wash off? And if it all looks good Ill try and post some pics =) probably going to spray down the interior fabrics with Scotch guard too.

I dont think it has cleaner/polish. They do make a cleaner wax that ive been using but I dont want to end up hurting the car as often as I use it so I bought this

?? Too cold!? You live in Florida for Pete's sake... There is no such thing as too cold! lol

I second the reply above. Any good cleaner wax will take off previous coats. Do a good cleaning to get the build of coats off and whatever dust and particles stuck in there, then follow with a good sealer wax. After that, I will drive my car down to you from Chicago to your unwashable weather and do mine lol.

[censored] I was too slow. You shouldn't have any issues layering. Your paste will do just fine, but you should use a cleaner first so you don't seal any contaminants.

I put on a coat of meguiars cleaner wax about a month ago, so your saying to do the cleaner wax then the meguiars gold class?

Well that depends on how much you drive really. See I personally drive a ton of miles so I have a lot of surface contaminants. I am kind of anal about making sure that I give it a good scrub with a cleaner wax before I put a sealer, such as that Gold Class on. If you do it that way, you will have the best results, but at the same time, you said you wash it once a week, so I don't think you are in that bad of shape. It is all personal preference really, plus up here we have salt and [censored] roads, so I make sure to get the best winter protection coat that I can. Tis' all up to you my friend.

Also, if i'm not mistaken, aren't those spray waxes really just the same as those waxes you get during a wash at the gas station car wash? Just a quick shine that fades somewhat quickly?

No, the spray wax I use (Meguiars Ultimate Spray Wax) lasts at least two weeks, probably a lot longer, the water beads right off.

I don't think gold class is a cleaner wax. Whatever slight solvent may be in the GC should help it to bond to any other similar carnauba wax underneath. Doubt any spray wax has much longevity though. At the same time I doubt the wax will have an issue leaving a layer on top.

You don't really have to have another coat of wax on top of the cleaner wax, as the cleaner wax will leave an adequate protective coating. That said, it won't hurt anything, and might give a better shine and protection.

They say 2 thin coats are better than trying to lay it on thick with 1 application.

And, if your goal is cleaning the finish thoroughly, don't even bother with a cleaner wax - use a quality polish such as Meguiar's Ultimate Polish - it has very fine abrasives that will clean the paint. It also has oils that will condition the paint and add to the luster when you put your wax on.

But if you're in a hurry and don't feel like doing a 2-step process, a good-quality cleaner wax might be a good compromise.

Also, don't forget about the clay bar if you've got contaminants imbedded in the finish, such as sap, etc. If you do, you need to clay it before polishing.

Everyone is giving good advice here. I guess given your Florida weather, you should be okay with just a good cleaner wax and no top coat, I was more or less telling you what I do since we have all this salt up here. john_pifer also makes a good point about quality polishes, a lot of them now come with the fine abrasives. Like I said, it's really about personal preference and how particular you are, and if you want to utilize products you already have versus buying/trying different products.

Side note, that Meguires Ultimate Polish is good Sh*t.

Just wondering...if you spray wax every week why do you need anything else....?

My spray wax still beads after 6 months here in south Florida....I just keep it clean and so the wax finish lasts longer....

Wash ------> Clay ------> Wax

Get a Gilmour Foamaster II Cleaning Gun from Amazon, makes pre soak insanely easy. Use Optimum No Rinse Wash ( blue ) as Clay lube and quick detailer for bird bombs etc. Wash again to get any clay residue off the vehicle. Get some Collinite 845 and let it sit in a bucket of hot water for a bit, once it turns liquid, shake thoroughly, transfer to a spray bottle. Now you have a spray wax that is insanely long lasting, looks good and costs minimal compared to other offerings.

I'd wash it with Dawn, then clay and wax. If you don't have the ambition to clay the car just wash it with Dawn and wax it.

+1 on the Dawn, it works so well. Also use some Meguiars Ultimate Compound on those fade spots you mentioned in another thread.

Because while the water still beads off after 2 weeks, Im not sure how good spray wax is at protecting from the blinding sun we have here.

I really like this advice..heat up collinite and use as a spray wax. Gold class does not contain any abrasives. I use it on my fridge to keep the fridge looking clean! I used to use it on the car but it doesnt last much more than a month or two. It looks great after application though!! I am looking to try menzerna power lock or megs #21 next. If i were you i would clay or nanoskin autoscrub your car than give it some collinite or a good quality sealant.

Washed and waxed the Accord today, wanted to show you how the Gold Class wax did. The pics aren't that great but it is what it is. It went on and came off pretty easy, only took me about 45 minutes to was the whole car. I detailed the interior plastics with Meguiars natural shine spray, and I Scotch guarded all the fabrics. The tires were dressed with Meguiars Hot Shine tire spray. Hope you enjoy the (poor quality) pics.

Looks great!
I use Meguiar's Gold Class on the cars I detail. Just did a 2007 Buick Lucerne today. That car had sat outside, I clayed the finish, WOW what a bunch o crud in that paint.... IMO I think Meguiar's Gold Class is one of the best out there.
