I removed my spoiler recently to reapply the failed VHB tape, and noticed the glass had been over sprayed on by maaco. I was wondering what to use to get rid of it?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Fine steel wool. Make sure there are no other coatings on top of the glass that you want to keep. Test in an inconspicuous area first, etc.

Worked great getting leftover window applique gunk off my Land Cruiser.

I would start by trying to dissolve it with mineral spirits on a rag, but don't get it on the adjacent body panels. If that fails, it should come off by using a clay bar w/detailing solution as the lubricant.

Fine steel wool... Got to the hardware store, get '0000' steel wool. they will have other grades, the only one you want is '0000'. Scrub it dry or with some type of cleaner as well. Wash your car when its done, any steel wool fibers left over will rust overnight on your paint job.

You can also use the 0000 on windows to remove water spots and to polish chrome. Make sure the chrome is real metal chrome. Don't use the steel wool on chromed plastic.

Had the same problem when I rattle canned some clearcoat. I used Goof Off overspray remover on the window, and some paper towels. Worked great. Followed that up with just plain glass cleaner.

This is what they did years ago when I worked at a dealer with a body shop - but they used glass cleaner with it as a lubricant not a dry blade.

SOS pad might work also if your looking for something around home - again wet.
This. I would use glass cleaner or clay lube; but a fresh razor blade is the quickest way.

This^^^^^. You're only doing a small portion of the glass. That'll take 5 minutes.

If you use a razor blade use a brand new one. I watched a guy use one that wasn't brand new and he put scratches all over the glass. And use a razor blade not a utility blade. I'd try a solvent and cloth first before anything mechanical like a blade or steel wool.
You have to hold it at a steep angle. You want the edge to grab the paint not the glass. Glass cleaner makes it slide along easier.

I have #0000 steel wool, it seems like it may be scratching the glass very lightly, I haven’t used the mineral spirits yet, and I cannot be trusted with a razor blade on glass, last time I used a razor blade like that I left a huge scratch.

Best advice with the mineral spirits or steel wool? I’ve got a lot of time on my hands I just want to do it right
