Painted truck tailgate, need finishing advice

Short story: Painted a salvage yard tailgate at home to match color of old truck. Used "satin" black spray paint. Results were quite good, but paint looks way too flat.

What over the counter product can I use to make the thing really shine? Conventional wax was not very effective.

Is the rest of the truck satin or gloss? Are you using a gun or rattle cans?

Put clear coat on a dull finish without first wet sanding it will give you an uneven dull finish

The more I think about this one the more it sounds like he sprayed base coat/clear coat and forgot to clear it.
Now its been contaminated with wax I would just wet sand it down well, prepsol and shoot it again.

I agree, but I live in a rural area and the satin black was all I could find at the time.
