Hi Bitogers,
since we had a thread about roller covers, let's talk paint brushes also:
-what goes good for you?
-what can't you live without/won't touch paint without?

me, i realized the cheap paintbrushes just give you headaches so i'm using (house/rental projects) depending what store comes close, purdy, woster, ace marks. cheap harbor freight or chip brushes used as expendable/one time/oil paint with no cleanup.

thanks in advance

Purdy isn't what is used to be. We use Corona brushes, well worth the money if you're looking for a good tool. Chip brushes are great for spot priming water stains and then tossing them.

[puts on shame hat]: i managed to damage my woster shortcut by leaving the paint dry solid block on it... and a couple purdy's too.
when could have easily (with some elbow grease, and solvent and warm water and a comb) cleaned them....

demarpaint, what is your technique to get the same texture between brush and roller?
where do you buy corona brushes?

When painting walls and ceilings we use the lowest possible nap roller to get the product on with good coverage. In other words I won't use a 1" nap roller to load up paint hoping to get it to cover. I cut in and roll by hand as close to the corner as possible. It works since on one has ever complained.

I get the brushes from a local mom and pop old time paint store. There are online sources, I like to buy them from the paint store so I can actually check the brush out.

This is gonna sound odd but I just love the 2" paint brushes that I bought at Biglots a few years ago. They only cost a couple bucks and seem to last forever.

The slant cut version for painting edges is just as good. I stocked up and bought about two dozen in a variety of sizes so I basically have a lifetime supply.

The sizes other than the 2" don't seem to be quite as robust but they are still good.

I've never liked a Wooster brush. I have a few almost new ones sitting in the shed. Odd since one of my favorite brushes for new construction was the 3 inch Allpro flat sash. I believe they were made by Wooster.
