Paint sealant

I was advised to use a sealant after washing my black car. I live in Texas and the sun is BRUTAL. I want to keep the paint looking good. I waxed it with Black Magic about a week ago. The sealant I found is Meguire's 2.0 Sealant. It is $18 at O'rielys, Is that a good product/price?

Never used that, though Meguiars makes good stuff typically. I just put Rejex (available at autogeek.net) on three vehicles a few weeks ago and am very happy with it. Wolfgang's is another sealant I've heard good things about.

Also collinite 476s works well too. Reason I am obsessed with it is because it does NOT stain rubber or trim. If you have any tiny gouges it does not seem to stain them as well.

Duragloss is an excellent sealant that can last as long as any other sealant, doesn't stain trim, and is dirt cheap. Usually you can get it at around $10-$15.

Meguiar's NXT 2.0 looks nice and is easy on & off but durability is not one of the strong points. Any sealant is only as good as the surface that it is used on. For maximum durability the surface must be squeaky clean. In short a good hand wash and use of detail clay is in order.....yes the WHOLE car. After that Duragloss #105 is excellent on all fronts and easy to use. Keep it dry for 24 hours after removal to further enhance durability. Twice a year is all you need to apply & remove it. Clay isn't needed every time but a wash is prior to application/removal.

I saw the Meguiar's Nxt Generation Tech Wax 2.0 at Wal-Mart for 15.97. I thought about getting it but after reviews on here of its lack of longevity, I went with the cheaper Nu Finish Liquid Polish for 6.00 at Wal-Mart. I can't comment on the Collinites, Duraglosses and Rejexes as they are too rich for my wallet and not readially available locally.

I did (2) coats of Nu Finish on the upward facing surfaces and front bumper, (1) coat on the sides and rear bumper, and topped that with a Meguiar's Carnauba to deepen the finish. This was on the Corolla.

Not one of those is over $15.00 so they're hardly wallet busters. It's true that you will have to pay shipping if you can't find them locally. Your Corolla looks very nice and there's nothing wrong with Nu-Finish especially for the price.

I use Ultima paint guard plus on all my cars. Since my cars get hammered w/ sun, acid rain etc....and the fact I've tested most other sealants out there, Ultima is my choice for durability. 2 coats of Ultima and I know my car is protected.

My point exactly. Don't take this wrong, I'm not bashing any of the other products. I'm sure everyone's reviews cannot be flawed but for me and my dime, Nu Finish.

Thanks, it is enjoyable to wash, detail and drive. I particularly like the color. It has rained on and off all week and the paint has not spotted to the occasional inspection.

It really is a pleasure to use isn't it? The look is extremely nice also especially after 2-3 applications........my Blizzard Pearl RAV4 glows in the dark and looks like a candy paint job.

Nufinish works great on both my cars. It lasts forever. However, I was concerned on using it on my new car due to its cleaning action. I have decided to use collinite 476 more frequently on my new car and will use nufinish when I feel the surface needs some cleaning (I have never used clay). Both are very good and last for a long time. Nufinish is easier to apply than collinite 476, but as people have already mentioned, it stains trim.

Nufinish smells too strong of petroleum, which is definitely not safe for my clear bra.

I just applied a coat of DP Poli-Coat onto the Prius. Very slick, great shine and easy to apply. The car was without protection for a month and significant bug etching and water marks already developed on the roof (and thankfully, only the roof) so hopefully the DP sealant will stop that from getting worse.

I'm not advocating NuFinish, but you can't really judge a product by it's smell. IW 845 has a strong solvent smell, but works excellent if used properly. NXT 2.0 smells great, but works not so...

My favorite new product is Eagle One Gel Wax. It claims to be a carnauba so I guess it is not a sealant. It is easy to use, great shine and doesn't seem to stain trim.
