This has been puzzling me for a while. My MAF air flow sensor has low readings ~500 @ 3000rpm vs 1000. The EGR stays Open the whole time , I also saw an p0402 egr excessive flow. I fixed a turbo intake leak ordered a MAF. The EGR flap does close and open when I shut the engine off.

here is vcds:

Ordering the replacement MAF was a good idea assuming you have verified the wiring is in good shape. Otherwise VCDS is telling you the N18 valve isn't operating correctly and you should attend to it as it controls the EGR valve ... both are fairly common problems for BRM engines, unfortunately. I haven't done too reading on them (as I had an ALH and still have a BEW) but they seem to suffer from more issues of that kind than previous TDI engines.

I would read up on the BRM having MAF & EGR issues on TDIClub; you've got plenty of reading to do there.

thanks

Today I received my parts; MAF sensor from Fulfillment Warehouse and alternator pulley and removal tools from IDparts.
Replaced both and no more CEL and no more jumping and rattling of belt tensioner.
Yeah!
