Scott_Tucker,
Guide to stem clearance??? Well that's far beyond me unless I see with my eyes exactly what you talking about
Was this anything the dealership should have noticed before or is this part of a major tune-up?? I only know just the basics of how an engine really works. Either way at least you posting is more positive than the last.
What I do know is that the intake valve is just frozen solid and no chemicals will free it up. So that's why they have to now do a valve job on both sides as the mechanic advises. It includes valve job on both heads and some sort of magna fluxing which I don't know anything about, two timing chains, bolts, gaskets and I guess replacing the bad valve or valves.
I should as he told me two weeks it'll be back in my hands. Wether how much it cost now is water under the bridge. For myself I have seen two mechanics an they both say the compression is bad and that's why my CEL light was activated. In Los Angeles there isn't many mechanics available that can tear apart engines and do this work. If it's decided to keep this truck for the long haul now I'll see what happens down the road. Let's take it one step at a time.
