Hi everyone,

I don't think I have a real problem here, but I wanted to ask just in case. Anyway, on my hot water heater, I went to lubricate the blower motor with the 3-IN-ONE Blue for the electric motors (SAE 20). It has two lubricating holes, gave a squeeze-worth to one side. Then when I did the next hole, I realized that I overdid it as it overflowed out and dripped down. I know that only a few drops were needed on each side, so it must have ended up being a good squirt to each side instead. Blame this one on user inexperience I guess.

However, the unit is about 12 years old and this is the first time it's ever been lubed (finally found out just the other day that it's recommended to oil it every six months). I did "hard start" it a couple of times by turning up the water temperature and only a couple of drops of oil dripped out the vent holes. Everthing seems to run normally as well. My only question is whether I could have done anything to cause any future consequences to the motor or anything?

Here's the info on the motor if you need it...

FASCO 7121-6726, Type U21, HP 1/50, CUST P/N A880-0250,
RPM 3000, V 115 HZ, A 60, 85 CONT DUTY

Thanks everyone and looking forward to the feedback.

More then likely, the channels designed to hold oil for it are impossible to overfill, IE it will drip out or overflow when its full. I wouldn't worry about it but obviously clean up any drips.
