The manual says the (max) oil level should be 1/2" below the fill hole one my 2001 GMC truck.
What would happen if I filled it to the fill hole; foaming, poor fuel mileage, blown seals, catastrophic disaster,...?
I can't think of anything really adverse.
The rear takes a little less than 2-1/2 quarts. I would rather put in 2-1/2 quarts so I don't have any leftover lube the second time. The 1/2 quart left over from one refill will be used on the next.
