I forgot, 2 starter rebuilds. Those miles were about 50% interstate (24 trips to Florida I think it was, and the other 50% just around town).

I never said the OLM is a bad thing. I only said most people don't go that long on dino. I think it's a good thing. All cars should have them provided they do an adequate job and can truly tell that your oil is depleted w/o being depleted too much.
As for the API deal with Amsoil and Amsoil's quality. Do your own research. I'm not here to educate someone that isn't willing to do their own homework. If your on this forum and don't know these answers, then nothing I say will change that.
Amsoil's quality is probably documented better than any other oil on the market. The answers to your questions on this are very easily found if your willing to take the time and look.
Great that you don't pay someone to change your oil. Nether do I. The difference? I only have to change once a year and am able to enjoy more free time because of it. (or just get other projects done around the house)
I have read hundreds of UOA's with average results from a premium priced product.

That oil would have thickened to a #50 for the last part of the 35,000 miles of each interval, and #40 for at least half, using about 3% more gas overall. 900,000 miles, at 18 mpg would use 50,000 gallons of gas. The thickened oil made it use 1500 extra gallons of gas over that time. Where is the savings?

The viscosity rising would have depended on the engine's treatment of the oil. There have been several UOAs showing the SL formulations thickening to 40 & 50 weights, but before that, the thickening was never an issue. At least not that I noticed.
Also, thickening does not ALWAYS yield a decrease in gas mileage.

If your a former dealer, then you have me confused. I don't understand why you would ask all these questions if you know all the answers. If you don't like Amsoil, then don't use it. No skin off my back.
I did a fair amount of research prior to becoming a dealer and specifically searched for any bad press on the company and until now the only people I found that had anything bad to say were people that had never used it.
And an opinion from someone that has never used it doesn't mean much to me.
I've also been running a booth at a local track and have had several people comment (regular customers)how fantastic the products are. And again alot of opinions from people that have never used it.
So again, if you don't like it, don't use it. But you won't change my mind.

What kind of racing, which products are they using, and what are they saying about it?
I honestly believe it. My father used to own 1988 Astro Van. He got read of it at about 360,000.00 miles.
The engine was good as well as Auto transmission. The only thing I did to it is to install external oil coolers on engine and transmission. I used dino oil because every seal was leaking in engine, but it did not burn oil.
The reason he got read of it is because housing for starter got broken and it would cost more to fix it than Van worth. Loved that VAN.
